I offer person-centred sports massage and deep tissue massage for people of all backgrounds, from builders to office workers and athletes. sports massage & deep tissue massage can be provided as a stand alone service or in conjunction with other treatments, depending on your needs. I am qualified to assess, treat and rehabilitate a wide range of problems, from injuries to persistent pain or enabling greater mobility.
If you have a long-standing issue, we will look at what the triggers are and come up with a treatment that stimulates the muscles and nerves and relieves you of the pain, allowing you keep doing the things you love to do.
Sport or exercise, repetitive movements or being physically active can leave us feeling a bit stiff and uncomfortable. When someone has a persistent problem, whether it’s muscle tension or injury, Sports Massage Therapy can help to relieve this tension and restore normal movement.
Applying various massage techniques can stimulate the brain and nervous system to relax and calm down and encourage the body’s natural healing ability. This may include a full body massage or a focused session to an area of the body where you are experiencing discomfort. Many people choose regular sports massage to aid recovery from training and in preparation for events.
Some of the areas this treatment can help with:
Repetitive strain injuries
Sports & running injuries
Tight and aching muscles
Back pain, neck and shoulder pain
Chronically tight shoulders
Recovering from training
Pre and post event
Recovery from soft tissue Injury
Anyone who just wants to feel and move better - everyone is welcome. You do not need to participate in sport to have a sports massage. Whether you are an office worker, builder, runner or just want a great deep tissue massage this is the right place for you. My deep tissue massage / sports massage sessions are at my clinic in Dover, Kent near Folkestone Deal and surrounding areas.
“In the last three months of my London marathon training plan, incurred an injury which didn't go away despite complete rest. A running friend recommended I contact Michael who recognised a double hip flexor tendinopathy. He couldn't just 'sort my problem' as it's an injury which takes several months to repair. But what he did over a number of weeks was provide me with a vast range of strength exercises to rehabilitate me, whilst delivering targeted soft tissue therapy during our sessions together. Those exercises will ensure I retain and continue to gain strength in my key muscle groups for running and should result in me becoming a better runner. In combination with getting me walking and an increasing duration and intensity of running, he got me in a physical condition comfortable and strong enough to complete the 2021 London Marathon, and delivering for my charity. As well as learning a lot, Michael supported me by text between our sessions and even phoned to wish me luck the night before the marathon. Thank you Michael!”
